Double negative: ない+ない ( = nai+nai)
「そんな大きなスイカ一人で食べられないでしょ。」
= Sonna ookina suika hitori de taberarenai desho.
= You know you are not going to be able to eat a watermelon that big by yourself, right?
「食べられないことはないよ。」
= Taberarenai koto wa naiyo.
= I wouldn’t say it is impossible. (I could eat it.)
How to use Verb + ところ ( = tokoro)
「Dipper先生、今日は何を教えてくれるの？」
= Dipper Sensei, kyou wa nani wo oshiete kureru no?
= Dipper Sensei, what are you going to teach us?
「今、何を教えるか考えているところです。」
= Ima, nani wo oshieru ka kangaete iru tokoro desu.
= I am thinking about what to teach now.
How to use the suffix, 「ね ( = ne ) 」
「いつもきれいにしているね。」
= Itsumo kirei ni shiteirune.
= You always make yourself so clean, don’t you?
「まあね!」
= Maane!
= I guess so.
How to use どころ（ = dokoro)
この暑さで祭りどころじゃないわ….
= Kono atsusa de matsuri dokoro janai wa…
= This is way too hot to go to the festival.
受身 ( = ukemi) : Passive form
Vinnie 「こんなのつけられた….」
= Konna no tsukerareta…
= I got this thingy put on me…
How to use verb + ても ( = temo)
「シェイディー先生、日本語の質問をしてもいいですか？」
= Shady Sensei, nihongo no shitsumon wo shitemo ii desu ka?
= Shady Sensei, may I ask you a Japanese question?
「してもいいけど、簡単なのにしてね。」
= Shitemo iikedo, kantan nanoni shitene.
= Yes you can, but make it an easy one, OK?
How to use がち ( = gachi) & 気味 ( = ぎみ = gimi)
Levo : 「勉強しすぎでお疲れ気味なんじゃない？」
= Benkou shisugi de otsukare gimi nanjanai?
= Aren’t you a little tired ’cause you studied too much?
Nao : 「無理しがちだから手を抜いてやればいいんだよ。」
= Muri shigachi dakara te wo nuite yareba iindayo.
= I know you tend to work too hard. You should just take it easy.
How to use べき ( = beki)
何があっても日本語の勉強を続けるべきだよ。
= Nani ga atte mo nihongo no benkyou wo tsuzukeru beki dayo.
= Whatever happens, you should keep studying Japanese, OK?
